秀才
秀才读音为 xiù cai。意思是：①优秀人才：闻其秀才，召置门下。也泛指读书人：其(指仲永)诗以养父母，收宗族为意，传一乡秀才观之。②汉以后荐举人员科目之一。唐初于科举考试中设秀才科，后成为对一般读书人的通称。明清两代对府、州、县学中的生员也称为秀才。
